The Replacement...

As mentioned in the previous post, I went and got a replacement for the d810 (trinity) last Friday night. The main criteria used to determine the prospective replacements was a simple one, the new phone had to be a step forward compared to the d810. No easy feat since the d810 was a wm6 phone, came with a slew of features (gps, wifi, hsdpa, etc.) and was reliable.

During dinner, I thought of the various alternatives and managed to narrow it down to just 2 models. Both models are faster than the d810 and have all the bells and whistles necessary to ensure that they are viable alternatives.

The first model I considered was the i780,  which is in all aspects a brilliant wm 6 device (speedy processor, decent 2.0 megapixel camera, above average build quality, gps, full qwerty keyboard, expandable memory up till 8gb, gorgeous screen and 9 hours of talk time)... All of that in less than 122 gms... Very nice... Looks like it will be a tough to find a wm device that can match the i780 in terms of features...

Its competition came in the form of the diamond, which is a very nice wm6.1 device (not so speedy yet not so slow processor, decent 3.2 megapixel camera, great build quality, gps, touchflo 3d interface, 4gb internal memory, vga screen and slightly more than 5 hours of talktime)... All in a sleek black casing... Very arty farty...

The i780 edges the diamond in terms of processing power and expendable memory, talk time, having a real qwerty keyboard and price (the i780 is RM 1100.00 cheaper and comes with an additional battery and leather pouch - please note however the prices quoted are the suggested retail prices and may not necessarily be the price I paid, so shop around)...

The diamond has the upper hand when it comes to the camera, the vga screen, wm6.1 and snazzy touchflo 3d (the suggested retail price for the diamond is RM 2799.00 and it comes bundled with a car charger)...

So which one did I end up buying???
