Just by swapping out the Kingston DDR 2 800mhz (2 x 2gb) value ram for the equivalent Kingston HyperX DDR 2 800mhz (2 x 2gb) performance ram (with no other changes to the desktop configuration, ceteris paribus) the PCMark05 score increased from 9201 to 9421… So the question then becomes, does the performance increase of the HyperX justify the premium charged over the value ram???
The value ram retails for RM 85.00 per stick (2gb) while its performance counterpart retails for RM 135.00 per stick (2gb)… So looking at it objectively it would mean that RM 100.00 (an increase of RM 50.00 per stick) was spent to increase my PCMark05 score by 220… Which works out to RM 0.45 per point…
So is it worth it???
