Hmmm So It Does Matter…

Flash drives are getting cheaper and cheaper and due to this, we tend to base our buying decisions on whether the capacity of the flash drive is enough for our daily use (provided that the price point is a comfortable one)…

When it comes to price points, no one does it better than Kingston… Their data traveller flash drives are not only affordably price but they blow away the competition… It has come to a point that I daresay that its at a price point that everyone will have at least one (if not more) data traveller flash drives…

So why don’t the other flash drive manufacturers throw in the towel and kowtow to the flash drive ongness of Kingston??? Well its because not all flash drives were created equal…

You see, the so called “high speed” data traveller 8gb when tested with HD_Speed, showed that it has an average read speed of 12.7mb/s and a write speed of 1.9mb/s… The numbers mean nothing because there is nothing to compare it with…

Or is there???

Logically, I should be able to get twice the performance of the data traveller if I spend twice the amount on a competing flash drive right???

With that logic process in mind, the Sandisk Cruzer Contour 8gb is the perfect choice… Not only does it cost 2 times more, but its at least 2 times heavier and looks at least 4 times more expensive!!! So how did it fare with HD_Speed??? Well it garnered an average read speed of 33.4 mb/s and a write speed of 24.1 mb/s…

Well its obvious that the Sandisk flash drive outperforms the Kingston one by miles but is the gap in the price justifiable??? Well to answer that question, you have to consider whether you would like to wait 20 mins to transfer some pictures over to your flash drive or get it done in 3 mins??? Its your choice and your wallet :P…
