What The???

It was the usual routine... get home, shower, turn on the laptop to check for emails, fix a drink, turn on the fan, sit in front of the tv, fire up the 360 and urm... nothing happened... I peeked at it and KNNCCB!!! I saw the ring of death!!! ROD!!! POOHNIABOH!!! MCH!!! LPPL!!!

I held my breath... restarted it and it was fine... completed Bioshock... missed out on an achievement because I couldn't find the last little sister on the second last level but its ok... Broke 18k gs as well... I just hope, it turns on without a hitch later...

Pray for me...

Would You Kindly...

Those three words are responsible for the biggest plot twist in Bioshock... What am I talking about??? If you're playing it now, you'll find out soon enough... for those of you who don't have it, its worth getting for the plot twist alone... A masterpiece... This is art for the new century...

Rapture...

I got back into town last night after a couple days on the road... I was well tired but I heard that Bioshock was already available, so I just had to pick it up!!! Also had the pleasure of joining Kinky Nicky, Tattooed Sharon and Joanne for dinner at Marche... MarauderzMY picked up Bioshock as well (gee news does travel fast eh???)...

After a couple hours of game time, I would have to say that the retail game is a whole different animal from the demo... it seems that the developers actually listened to the feedback they got... For starters, the controls are a whole lot tighter...

Next, there seems to be more variations in the behaviour of the splicers... in the demo all the did was rush you in hopes of overwhelming you with their attacks... now they run to healing stations when they are hurt... seek hiding spots in an attempt to surprise you and also attack in packs...

Weapon balance seems to have been reworked as well... In the demo the pistol was overly powerful... I'm glad to see that it has been relegated to pea shooter status in the final game =)...

However, the sync or rather lack thereof between the the audio and the subtitles has yet to be addressed... I wonder why??? It may be negligible for many but I do feel that its minor things like these that actually stop a game from being great...

Shocking Stuff...

After waiting 35 minutes or so, I finally managed to download the Bioshock demo... The whole 1960's look and feel is a refreshing change from all the ultra modern settings used in most 360 games thus far... A major plus point... The story line seems to be pretty decent as well... plus point number 2... You can incinerate someone just by snapping your fingers... muchos plus points!!! The controls feel just about right... Some tweaking is required but thats a minor issue, everything else seems fine... The graphics are drool-worthy, the sound effects enhance the overall atmosphere and pummeling someone with a wrench is just so relaxing (reminds me of a massage by the beach... just the perfect thing to unwind with after a long day in the office)...

Although the demo was a little short, I'm sold... A definite must buy for me... Hmmm coming to think of it, its been a while since I bought a game... Looks like the long drought is over...
